Tips to keep your computer running.

Follow these four steps and your computer can run for years!
(1) Update
Viruses can infect your computer. One definition of a virus is an attack on software vulnerability. If your software is up-to-date, then you are less likely to be hit. Update the following: Microsoft, also called “Windows Update”. Java. Adobe Reader, Flash and Shockwave.
(2) Dust
Your computer is air cooled. That means a fan brings in cooler air, passes it over the cpu heat sync and attempts to remove heat. The best way to clean out a computer is to open up the side panel, take the computer outside, and use a gas duster to remove the crap that has accumulated. Be very careful near any fans.
(3) Files
Sure, you may think that deleting files from Internet Explorer does the job. But sadly, no. Be careful which programs you buy, or worse, get for free. A good program deletes the temporary files, cookies, and folders which accumulate “stuff”. Even the download folders need to be cleaned out.
(4) Viruses
If you do not have an anti-virus program – get one. Make sure it is paid for and up-to-date. You should be scanning for viruses weekly. Always do an update for virus definitions before scanning.
